Keeping Safe® Child Protection Awareness Training

All Information & Advice Persons are accredited “Keeping Safe^®” programme facilitators.  Keeping Safe^® is a standardised Child Protection Awareness Raising Training Programme which aims to raise awareness of issues of child protection and to assist groups in developing sound child protection policies in line with Children First and Our Duty to Care.

The training area’s included in this programme are:-

1.                 Developing a child protection policy and procedure.

2.                 Appointing a Designated Officer as defined in Children First.

3.                 Raising awareness about child abuse.

4.                 Developing safe recruitment practices.

5.                 Developing a good practice code of behaviour for staff.

6.                 Making links – developing good relationships with the Health Board and other agencies in relation to child protection practice.

All groups funded by the HSE are required to have a child protection policy in place and a designated person as outlined in the Children First guidelines.  This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
